Hi, I'm a resident lurker but thought I would make a post. I recieved some zebra plec*s today and they all seem to be doing fine but one seems a little different. The coloring seems lighter on it. Not quite black stripes but not brown either. I know there are chocolate striped zebras which are separate from the L46 but my question is does it take a little while for younger/smaller zebras to get darker black coloring? I have also had bettas lose color in shipping and then color back up after a few days or even a week. Can someone tell me if they have experienced this with zebras? It is also the smallest one, just under 2". The body is white and not a cream like the Choco Zebra, but the stripes seem a little more brown than the others. I tried to get a pic but it's not cooperating. So could this be from shipping/age or has someone tried to slip a chocolate in as a black and white zebra?
Thanks

As long as the shape of the fish, and the actual pattern look similar to the other zebras, I would attribute it to shipping stress and give the fish a few days to settle in. Plecos can definitely fade their color when they are stressed.

The zebras come in all different color variations. Some even have no stripes or very light stripes. I had one that was much darker than normal.

Ok, thanks for your replies. Up until now I've never seen one in person so I didn't really know what to expect. Just wanted to make sure he was ok. He has darkened up a little bit too.
