I go these almost 2 years ago. They were sold as L66 King Tiger, but I noticed they were different from my crescent tailed L66 and their stripe patterns are bigger than L66 as well. I hope they can be identified somehow. I have a reverse quad 3M/1F and they still spawn like clock work.

This is what some call Hypancistrus sp. Gurupa or Gorupa, don't remember the spelling. Anyway, I have so far not seen any Hypancistrus from Amazonas river where this small village are located, I have seen these together with all other Hypancistrus I call H. sp. Lower Rio Xingu that comes from the small city Belo Monte.

I have a pair, found between an import of L 66, two years ago. Nice looking fry.

Hypancistrus sp. "Gurupa" isn't well described. There is only a very bad picture. I bought some, but later it turns out that they are hybrids with L 450. Problem is, it is very difficult to seperate adult L 450 from lower Xingu or L 450.

I was told that before that it is a lower rio xingu pleco.
It's very confusing identifying all these LRX plecos.

khrister, your fish is not the same as pleco22 even if they come from the same localities, your fish is what they call H. sp. "Gurupa". Typical colour is the greyish tone, not black and white or dark grey and white or any other colour... they are grey all over with a pattern, stubby and robust body. The problem with H. sp. "Lower Rio Xingu" is that there are several different "species" mixed, they are already mixed when suppliers goes and collect the fish from the fishermen.
