Can you describe the circumstances a bit more? What does "bopped on the head" mean? Catfish don't have lungs - do you mean gills? Where does the fish come from (answer should be something like "My local fish-shop" or "Found it on the river-bank", not "22 Mount Pleasant Street").

How big is the fish? How big is the sink?

Do you know which species of catfish it is?

What are you feeding it?

In general, keeping fish requires that you have a proper setup with a filter, possibly a heater, definitely need a "dechlorinator" (liquid to add to the water to ensure the chlorine added to tap-water is "neutralized").

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm afraid the "right" answer relies on knowing what the situation is...

Rebecca has this questions posted twice and in the other she reveals this was a fish caught by angling, rapped on the head to kill it but it is still half alive. The fish should be killed and eaten rather than let it suffer. If she wants another I provided advice for her fisherman to bring one back in good condition.

Yes, I saw that post this morning. I agree, best to put an end to it's suffering and get a suitable pond/tank if wanted to keep one in future.
