How big is the tank?
Most snail-eating catfish grow pretty big. Read
this and
this for ideas.

too bad you're not interested in Botia's!
I have snailproblems too, with many tanks.
But the riverine showtank, wich contains Corydoras, Amphilius, Mochokiella, Rasbora's, Betta's etc, has been cleared from even the lot of the evil Burrowing snails!
by four 2" Botia striata.
A very peaceful active snailkiller, that unlike the Clown, stays small (to 3 1/2" if I'm not mistaken), stays nice (unlike many other Botia's like B horae) and isn't overly expensive (like B sidhimunki).
