hello

I have a L015 candy striped pleco called captain jack.

I really want to make him some yummy food as a big treat as I love him lots. Now the pages her say he is an omnivore. so i was thinking of making him a nice kebab of a selection of the following (he is only small so i will blanch the veggies first):-

broccoli
cucumber
courgette(i think this is zuchini in america)
baby sweetcorn
baby carrots

i wanted some meat in there so how about pieces of shrimp (not the live ones in my tank) or king prawn. or any other meat people can suggest?

is any of this wrong or can anyone else suggest something to add?

thankyou x

Unless the fish is under 1"/2.5cm, I'd say blanching the veg.

will want a mixed veg/meat diet.

He's about 1.5 inches long.

was just wondering if any veg or meat was considered bad for them? Or if they love certain kinds or certain ones are better for them. I know he loves the middle bit of cucumber! I have some frozen king prawns in my freezer that i'm not sure to give him or not!

He's my first ever pleco x

I have written a couple of articles about feeding, you can find them under my name to the right of any of my posts (where it says "articles(3)" or some such).

A small piece of king-prawn would be just fine. As the fish isn't very large, you don't want to put too much food in there.

Give it some time for each food - I've found that many plecos do not appreciate "new" food until they've seen it for a while...

I agree with mats completley. i say introducing little bits of prawn at night before lights out wouldnt be too bad. maybe even small bits of mussel too

and do check his articles out. their of great help to any pleco keeper
