New synodontis..(moved post from tank talk)

Was labeled as a leopard synodontis. But i'm thinking it's probably a hybrid. Anyways.. it was so cute at the store.. there were several others with him. I quickly googled him on my girlfriends phone to find out more about him and decided he'd be good for my tank. All was well. I take him home acclimate him and finally let him out. First thing I notice, he only has one pectoral fin. I dont know how i didnt catch that at the store, anyways i continue to watch him and he seems quite eager to explore his new home, he seems to like following and being a nuisance to a large long fin bn.. chasing him into whatever cave he goes into. I thought about taking him back but i just like him too much he has a lot of personality and he doesn't hide at all! contrary to what I read soon after noticing he has a missing pectoral. I read that they need to be in groups of atleast 3 or else theyll hide all the time and pretty much be a recluse, or even get stressed to the point of death. He shows no sign of this..So I was thinking maybe i could put off getting anymore for now. I'm willing to if i have too.. my stocking level is getting a bit high, Im going to need a bigger tank soon. So i guess my question is would it be ok to hold off on getting anymore for now? I'd also like to ask whether or not he's fine with out his other pectoral fin? if food will be a challenge.. there is a lot of bottom feeders in the tank but i can always target feed.. I saw him eating some bloodworms on his own today though, so I hope he'll be fine. Anyways I would take some pics of him and post em up but i'll make sure to do that tomorrow, id like someone to perhaps help me identify what he is if not some sort of hybrid.. um.. well that is all.. thanks for reading

p.s. He was a gift from the lady friend :D

For ID we'd need a photo.

It should be fine to not get any more and it'll do fine on it's own. The hybrids we see often labelled leopard syno can get to a good 6-7" body size fairly quickly (compared to some other synos).

The missing pectoral should be no problem as synos are (in general) as tough as old boots!

I _think_ it's a hybrid - quite possibly .

I'd have to agree with you: if this is indeed Synodontis sp_hybrid(1), it is one of the cutest little buttons I've seen. It's just getting hard to pin down the nature of the hybrids as the breeders are constantly crossing different genuine species and even hybrid and genuine species.
