The front page has been redesigned to work within the forum framework. As you may know, all the pages in the site are up for an overhaul having trialled the catelog species pages initially. That's all working fine, so the front page is next.

Some of the layout will be a bit odd until all the generated content (forum posts, latest images, species, my cats etc) is swapped over to the new style, but that should be done over the coming few days.

I will post when this bit is complete.

Aside from common (and modern) look and feel, this also delivers a much lighter page, cross browser support and better support of orientation sensitive devices. Login and other forum features are available from the front page.

OK, got about half way done with it but the thing is readable I hope. I'm aware the links to the longer recent update pages are badly laid out, but will get them tomorrow.

This is now complete.

Aside from looking better (and more consistent) across several browsers on various hardware platforms this now means that the latest forum post list and all the update type information in the right hand side of the page is instantly updated each time the page is accessed. Previously it was only updated every 15 minutes.
