After two years...these guys have finally found their way to me. They have begun a very slow acclimation process.

I don't know what trade names are being concocted, but it is not .

On PC, this fish is known as .

Is this the species that has "robocop" as part of its name? Either way, lovely fish, hopefully you acquired a nice big group that settle in well and perhaps even pioneer breeding of them.

Since it wasn't there, I've added the "Robocop catfish" label.

Better brush up on my robocop images... don't see the connection. But probably my favorite 'mini' loricarid. Nice fish

Maybe the cute looks are very deceptive and they sort out rebellious tankmates... "Dead or alive you're coming with me."

These are nice, together with the Nannoptopoma sp."white" also being exported from Peru. I've been wondering though, are they hard to keep alive in the long run? I think I might have read it somewhere, or I'm mixing it up with some other similar fish...I guess vegetable matter is the solution, but can they be easily fed with tablets and veggies or do they still seem to miss something when fed such foods?

They are lovely, Pier had/have some of these in recently.

They are Nannoptopoma sp. 'Peru'. Also referred to as the Orange Oto.

But.....As much as I was joyed to finally find them, I was extremely sadened that they didn't make it through the acclimation.

We're guessing that they were just too cold during the travels and it was too much for them. I can't tell you how dissapointed I am in this as they never even made it to their tank. Took nearly two years to get them and didn't even have a chance to enjoy them. Grrrrr.

I'll keep watching the lists and wait for them to show up again.

Sorry to hear. A bit fragile, it would seem.

Here we are again. Long story short, I found another vendor that got them in. I was pleasantly surprised. Much better stock. I did loose a couple but that was my own fault. I turned off one of the power heads in the river tank but left it in the tank. A couple of them dissappeared and I found them stuck inside the outlet of the powerhead of all places.

Anyway, that part of the manifold is sealed up and the remaining guys are doing very well.

Here's a shot a finlly grabbed of the little lady yesterday. If that's not pure cuteness, then I don't know what is.


Have had them for nearly two months now. These guys did so well, that I ordered another batch. The same vendor also got in the Parotocinclus sp. 'Peru' which I ordered a group of them as well. They should be here next week.

congrats on finding them again, what was the pricing on them and how many do you have, have on order, and plan to have of the sp peru?

I'll wind up with (7) Nanno's and (6) Paro's. The Nanno's came in at $18 and Paro's at $8.

Very nice pick up. I have had my small group (4), for over a year now, and they seem to be doing well. They are in my 40 gal BF community tank , and make frequent appearances out and about. These are 2 of mine. Good luck with yours.

Slightly off topic question but can I ask how you get such good quality pics? I'm really wanting some good ones of mine although they come out pretty good there nothing like that.

make no mistake about it folks.....these boys and girls have an appetite. there are (8) in the tank currently. yesterday afternoon, i placed four medium sized algae covered rocks in the tank. this morning when i turned the light on...they were clean as a whistle! im going to have to find more rocks to keep up with them!

I kept about 20 Parotocinclus cf. eppelyi for over two years then lost them all last summer when the power head driven filter conked out. I see no reason why they couldn't have lived indefinitely if the circulation was maintained. I fed mine only Spirulina sticks. I allowed their tank to accumulate plenty of algae but they scoured that clean within the first 48 hours. They are all cool fish but your specimens are super cool.
I'm looking for replacements. Not the expensive guys because I want too many but more of what I had if they are around $8.00 each.
I am getting a bunch of Tefe Green Discus first. I have my priorities.

I think they resemble roughly the shark relative, Chimeras.
