A few days ago I noticed that one of my had killed a new temporary member of the tank.
There companion are a group of Hemigrammus erythozonus.
I had temporary to move a small group of danio's from a other tank.
The next day one of my had decided to kill one of the danio's.
This danio was about 2cm and the Amblydoras 6cm.

I read before that these cats do not predate on live fish of this size, so i was a bit surprised.
Is is reported that they predate on small fish ?

Did he eat it or just kill it? And -perhaps even more important - did you see it happen or do you suppose it was an Amblydoras which committed the "crime"?

I think what you saw was a catfish trying to eat a dead or dying small barb/danio

the quality of tiny shoaling fishes is quite bad at the moment, especially those mass-bred from asia.
both Red Rio's and Danio's fall in this category

Amblydoras is not known as an agressive fish or a piscivore.

but it can take the oppertunity of snacking on a dead fish or a dying fish.

Yes, I'd agree, I've kept similar doradids with fishes less than 5% of their size without problem.
