AMAZONAS magazine will finally be available in English from 2012 January ?
for the people like me, who are more fluent in English than in German, it's quite good news...

Unfortunately, the magazine website is not secure, so I'd be careful transmitting credit card information if I were you.

I didn't pay attention to this particular point

I'm just a confident (and naive) Swiss guy... I'll check my VISA Account these next days... the only time I've been "robbed" was in 2004, using my Visa in Kuala Lumpur. The same day, 2 pirates used my credit card number in Vietnam and in Thailand, getting Frs. 4'000.- each... But Visa was very reactive and interrupted the card the same day.

I have checked with the publisher and it is actually on a secure server, the problem is in the certification, because of the closeness between their name and Amazon.com there have been some delay.

I've just subscribed. It all looks a bit dodgy as it goes off site, but if you research the domain that takes the (secure) payment, it checks out as a speciality media publisher to niche enthusiasts.
Looking forward to it.

Fantastic news.
The copies that we got at the 2nd L-Number days, whilst in German, looked so good, I was almost going to learn German just so I could read them.

I can tell you Amazonas German is the best fish hobbyist magazin I've ever read !
and as the first editions of the English version will re-publish translated articles, I'm quite confident in the quality of it all... (pictures, authors, articles)
I'm really looking forward... did you see the "on-line preview" ? it's very complete !
enjoy !

I'm not much of a magazine guy. I've been jaded by repeat articles in Aquarium Fish Magazine, and perusal of other magazines at the bookstore gives me information I feel I could find with a brief search on the internet. What kind of exclusive and current material am I to expect from Amazonas, especially if it reprints articles from German? Furthermore, is there someone for the catfish fan in every issue or am I liable to go a few issues without seeing anything of interest?
Print is on its way out, but if Amazonas can deliver something meaningful that the internet cannot besides pretty pictures and glossy pages, I'll be the first to subscribe.

I have a subscription to the german edition from 1st L-numbers days in Hannover (2009), so around 14 editions (as I bought a few older, with specific covers that caught my interest)... And even in German, every single edition gave me at least 2-3 fascinating articles on the hobby... Not always on catfishes (even if I don't remember an edition without Corys or Loricaridae or loaches stuff), but most of the time with an expedition by Hans-Georg, Heiko, Ingo or others... South America, of course, but also India, Sumatra, Africa...
Moreover, you'll find a large pannel of subjects : aquascaping, plants, invertebrates, shrimps, snails, new species on stock lists, breeders and their installations, quality subaquatic pictures, events on the next 2 months (in Germany for the german edition) and so on ! I'm really enthusiastic for the german edition. The only "less" point was that it cost me an effort to read it in German. I had to take time to be "inside it", as I'm not as fluent in German than in English (if I can tell I'm fluent in English)...
As Hans-Georg often reminds it : Amazonas is a magazine for aquarists, writen by aquarists ! And that's the whole difference !
I totally agree with the your point about "printed magazines", SuckerMouth... but as long as there will be a magazine of this quality, that keeps me on the way of "dreams and projects", I'll keep on buying it !
