Whisker erosion

I have 3 C.Julii in a heavily planted tank....the base substrate is gravel mixed with red laterite...the top had 2" river sand. But due to my 5 Megalechis thoracatas constant snuffling the sand sank under the gravel. Therefore reducing my Juliis whiskers to stumps.I intend to move the corys to their own tnak when its ready.
Will their whiskers grow back with a river sand substrate?
regards Donna

It all depend on the extent of the erosion, if the barbels are completely gone then it it most unlikely they grow back. If the barbels are just shortened then there is every possibility that they will regrow.
