I bought a "moonrock" (which is basically a small ceramic cave) from w@lmart awhile back. Noticed that my young albino bristle-nose pleco has been in there a week. Alive but not coming out. Closer notice I find a gang of pleco fry swimming around. I transferred moonrock, babies and daddy to a guppy net.

What do I do now??? How long until I must transfer to a larger tank? I don't want them to be lunch, and I cannot house (provided they live) this many plecos long term.

What other fish are in the tank they were in?

I can not see any large fish in your small tank picture with your post. I am thinking you may be able to leave them right in the larger tank, you would only have to cover the filter intakes with some netting or a sponge.

You might want to rehome the female too, to stop this happening again.

Breeding fish is fun, but you need to be set up properly for it, and have arrangements in place to move on the youngsters when they are big enough!

Yep, the only way to keep them from breeding is to keep them apart. I keep my male and my female in separate tanks (not an option if you only have 1 tank !) until the fry from the previous spawn have been sold or given away, so that I will not be overrun with them. Good luck.

cute surprise! but I can see if you don't have the space for babies how that might be a big problem. This is why when I bought my ABN, I only bought one. It turned out to be male.. he gets in his cave and wiggles that tail trying to lure a female, but, alas the poor boy isn't gonna get lucky. I would be in the same situation as you are otherwise...

I was told ABN can be okay and happy alone. I hope that's true.

good luck with them. I have yet to be able to raise and breed bristlenose plecos! I can breed some odd and rare fish, bristlenose just are not one of them.
