I was intrigued when I saw that (cory longipinnis) is identical to ...

What are the differences between the two species? Where could I find the longipinis cory?

Unfortunately, it's in German, and google translate doesn't like this type of dcoument very well (I do just as good myself - but that's not really saying much - my German barely good enough to order beer and at least most of the time get a beer...)

A very short summary: C. paleatus has not got the long dorsal fin, which C. longipinnis has.

The is a distinct difference in the colour pattern, especially the number of central body blotches, but as Matts has said the major feature of C. longipinnis is the extending first three soft dorsal rays, these continue to grow throughout the life of the fish and can become ribbon like, which is what its name implies.

There is a of of confusion with these fish in the hobby, because at some point in time these fish have been inadvertently crossed, so now many of the commercially produced fish are not true species.

These are my C.Paleatus long-fin babies,they're about 2mths old.
Longfin have far more exagerated fins than C.Longpinnis.
Tyne Valley Aquatics have the longfin paleatus,aeneus and panda,I'm sure Richard could get you C.Longpinnis too

The longfin have long pectoral fins too unlike Longpinnis.You cant see their pectorals in that photo,but to take more I'd have to transfer them to a display tank as theyre in a 54litre tank now.

The long finned C. paleatus are in fact a man made strain and not a true representation of the natural fish.
