Nice specimen, looks like Acanthodoras cataphractus.
Did you buy only one ?

Did You also buy Amblydoras nauticus ? They are also rare.
I have a group of them bought in a dutch store a year ago, after that never been seen available again.

Thanks.

According to Mark Sabaj there are at least 2 or 3 undescribed Acanthodoras. This is only a youngster so we will see what it turns out as. Only got 1 as it will probably end up with my friends who has 3 types:

First one captioned as spinosissimus (second link) is an undescribed sp not spinosissimus.

No, the nauticus were too big for my tank:

They do tend to show up quite often in the UK.

I reckon this will grow to be a beauty, Steve.
Lots of good water and good food should flush away that pinkness within a couple of months.
My cataphractus are favourites of mine.

Thanks. I think the pinkness is due to Tetramin etc lol

I think it's a bit too early to tell as they are only small specimens. The black and yellow one in the link above isnt spinosissimus according to Mark Sabaj it's an undescribed species. This is the true spinosissimus:

Whichever it is, they are all cracking fish.
