Hey guys my ever strange fish guy is getting in a huge order of south American fish which is including the rare blue eyed pleco! I am more than exited to go see these plecos!!! But he is also getting in some not so common fish! Which includes the TRACHELYOPTERUS INSIGNIS
And I see that there are no registered keepers! Is this a rare fish? I probably won't get one I'm just curious they are already a good size 6" plus

Do me/us a favour and try to make a picture of them.
I for one would really like to see them.
And as you already have found out yourself, the fact that no-one currently keeps it makes it a rare import indeed.

I've studied all Trachelyopterus (Parauchenipterus) species and made some comparisons and based on those (relative length of post cleithral process, angle of postemporal supracleithral process, lower jaw strongly projecting, anal fin ray count) these key out to be insignis (which is very similar to fisheri). There are a couple of other similar species in the region but I think these are likely to be insignis. IMO the clog image of insignis is doubtfully identified.
