PIcs of whiptail and corys for ID help

Hey all:

I picked up 8 of these corydoras yesterday, and the LFS fella said they were wild captured from Peru. They sure match the pics in the cory book at the store of Corydoras leucomelas. Am I on the right track?

Next are a series of pics of one of two whiptail cats picked up at the same place. They looked to me to fairly closely match the pics seen here on Planet Catfish of the giant whiptail, but I'd sure like some guidance. The images below are of the slightly larger of the pair, which is about 4 inches long including the long tail tendril. The other whiptail looks the same on cursory inspection, but has a much shorter tendril. The whiptails also came from Peru.

The corys and whiptails are in a 55 gallon aquarium, and if they are giant whiptails they'll definitely be going back to the LFS, because I don't have a big enough tank to house them responsibly as they approach full size.

Also in the tank is a synodontis cat and a BN pleco. I'd had cichlids in the tank, but recently rehomed them. There's plenty of sand, wood and rock in the tank and, now that the cichlids are gone, have put in some live plants, with more to come.

Have always wanted a discus tank, so that's what this is in the process of becoming.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Thanks! (*)

As well as continued ID feedback on the whiptail, I'm interested in confirming they are male and female, and would appreciate your expertise on sexing. o:-)

Thanks, Tina. The color pattern best matches the peru sp images in the links you suppled. Now, which one? It's OK. As long as I know it's not a giant whiptail and will stay around 7 to 8 inches, I won't be losing any sleep over it. :d :-T
