I found this male in a shipment of common bristelnoses. There where some of them but this is the only one I could raise. When younger he was plain slate grey with the same white tips at the dorsal and tail like the normal ones.

What could it be?
-A hybrid
-An other species
-An abnormally colored common bristelnose
-A colourmutation common bristelnose

A male . The real one.

I have never been able to find them anywhere. In the shops it's always the calico form of the common BN. If you have a good LFS ask them for Ancistrus spec. Violett.

He was in a batch of small Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus from the Czech republik. That makes me believe he's a abnormally colored common BN. Does that rule out that he is a LDA 016? What is a LDA 016 actually?

For the moment he is guarding a small amount of eggs from a super red BN. If he is carrying a genetic trait it must be possible to isolate it.
