Help with catfish ID?

Hi there - I saw a beauty little cory at the lfs the other day, nice variegated black spots and a beautiful light green sheen, not as dark as the sheen on C. Aeneus - it was not a cory I remember seeing before, I am kicking myself for not nabbing him on the spot because he was so cool looking, BUT . . they were calling him a Paleatus Cory, and that's not in the Cat-elog. I have heard of pictus cats, and paleatus rings a bell, but . . . Can anyone knowledgeable point me in the right direction?

If he's still there at the weekend I'm gonna grab him, but will not be able to post any pics, no digital sorry . . . at least I may be able to provide a better description.

Thanks for your help!

Look under Corydoras paleatus . It is in the Cat-eLog. A very common sp. and perhaps the best for beginners to start with.

Doh! well now I feel like a newbie - that's what I get for looking at the common names only. I think I even had one of these many years ago. Methinks this was a sterling specimen, much more vibrant colours than you usually see at the lfs - I have 6 aeneus in the tank he's going in to keep him company, provided he's still there . . he's gonna be the heavyweight, tho - about an inch and a half, the others are just about an inch yet.

thanks for the help guys !
