hi everyone - just joined the forum and thought I should introduce myself - Sue - and am from New Zealand

found this forum today after going to our lfs and returning home with a red lizard whiptail catfish (should have looked for the info first I know ) - the shop didn't have a lot of info about him they thought he was a L32 (after searching your site I now know he's not) There is just so much information here and the search was very easy thanks.

Anyway my new friend is to join a ?dwarf harahara catfish, some kuhlis and 3 baby albino cories in the bottom of one tank - the kuhlis and harahara have been residents for about 1 year now - I have a plentiful supply of algae for him and feed at lights out for the others - is there anything else I should be feeding? The lfs has had him for 4 months and feed mostly pellets with occasional bloodworms.

I've found some wonderful photos of my red lizard whiptail catfish but am still searching for info of how big he will grow. Any ideas? The lfs assured me that he will stay small

and - is the algae in the tank (at present it's plentiful) enough or does he need extras - I do have the pleco chips with wood fibre added (for my ottos) - have tried putting wood in the tank before but it created a problem with my pH as I am on rainwater with very low GH - for the last 3 yrs have added a small amount of pH 7 with each w/change which seems to add enough buffers to keep the tank stable and the fish and plants healthy.

this is the first red whiptail I've ever seen - though I do live in the north of NZ and don't get a chance to visit the larger lfs often. I've been drooling over him since he arrived in the shop and yesturday................ I will ask around though and see if they are common here

....he's grazing on the algae in the tank now - seems quite settled. Shouldn't be any competition between him and the Hara hara should there? HH seems to mostly be interested in worms and daphnia
