Will my Catfish grow into a massive baby fish eatin monster?

Hi
I've recently been introduced to the world of Catfish and most definately hooked. I've got my heart set on a wild breeding group of Synodontis Petricola.
While waiting for the lottery win to finance them a friend offered me a free to good home catfish to make room for new breeding pairs. He thought it was synodontis but couldnt ID it. After hours, over days looking through photos and profiles until all I could see was spots, all I'd managed to do is worry myself to bits thinkin' the catfish is up all night tucking into my young Tropheus or stealing eggs.
I have no helpful info on the catfish except it's 3-4" and on a normal day it would be darker brown than in the photos. He wasn't happy the tank was getting cleared out.
Can you tell if
it's a true catfish? What's name? male / female?
Thanks

SORRY. FORGET ALL OF THE ABOVE.
After all that it won't let me download directly onto the site. I would have to use a link to public photo sharing site.

You can download from your PC. You might need to resize the pic.

I was trying that but must be missing a step. I went to upload attachment, browsed, selected photo, clicked add file... Preview.... nothing. I tried adding photo and going straight to submit still nothing. For my good hour I repeating the same process again and again expecting a different outcome. Could I be missing some media software? I've just got this laptop haven't given it a proper test drive. Will have another read through help page and try agian.

Your photo is probably too large and needs to be resized.

If I recall correctly the max pic size is 512 KB.

Photo bucket is really easy to use. Takes two minutes to make an account and then all you have to do is copy and paste the photos URL

I also recommend photobucket. Use the line with IMG tags and copy and paste into your post.
I also use a windows power toy photo re-sizer. I like this because it is such a no-brainer to use.
It gives you 3 or 4 size choices and makes a copy adjacent to the original.
The smallest size 41 to 50kb at 640 X 480 pixels. I rename the reduced photo by adding "sm" without the quotes for small to the name.
It is handy for e-mailed photos too.
You can down load it from the web. Might have to look at several to get to one which doesn't try to add unwanted crapware.
Don't know what is available for Mac users.

I'VE CRACKED IT!
My most sincere apologies, it’s my first tour of windows 7. I resized photos and it worked like a charm.
I just hope they’re good enough for someone to identify. Fingers crossed.
Thank you for all the technical support
