what's the size of the cory, any information about the origin ?
The snout and body proportions don't really fit for C. similis.

I think it could be C 66.

Thanks for your prompt replies. This cory is just under an inch in length. Might be a Corydoras polystictus.

I tried to compare your Cory to mine, I keep both Corydoras polystictus and Corydoras similis; after checking them all out, I have to agree with Karsten Schönherr.
Your fish has larger spots than my C.similis and C.polystictus lacks the caudal smudge. C66 is a good candidate for your fish, it is often sold as Corydoras sp. Semibicuda, Cory “new violet” and Corydoras matzusakae. This is a rarer fish, I hope you have enough for a breeding group and can gain success, they are nice fish.

I'm pretty sure this is ; you can see from the angle of the gravel the photo was taken in a way that will distort the shape of the fish and so body proportions are unreliable. The fish is also looking down which makes the eye look bigger given the angle. would seem unlikely from a statistical point of view.

Any chance we could have a pic of the fish side on and not from above and the side? And can you tell us more about where you obtained the fish?

good point, as the cory is still quite small I would also say that C. similis is possible as well.
