Two types of whiptails. what can they be???

I think this is a Hemiloricaria lanceolata

Next pictures are of the other whiptail. Not sure what Sp?? Any help??? I think its male what ever is as its checks are hairy.

I bought the second fish earlier today from a local fish shop I rarely visit. I had to save him. I couldn't see him live in the tiny tank any longer.
So can you tell me what you think they are??? :)

Yes. May not have the full compliment of fins either.

Slightly related, but is snub nose something that is common? Of the four I have, two of the adults have snub noses, and two don't. I've had them breed on three occasions but never get to see the fry as assume they are predated on as soon as they hatch and released by the guarding parent.

I think so. Most of the tank bred L. simillima I have seen in shops appear to be like this.

Thanks Rupert. These were juveniles I purchased a while back - MatsP had the parents and a few juveniles and I took these four. I'd be interested to know if the ones @MatsP has had the same issue?
