They (4) are about 1 1/2 yrs old, and 5 1/2" long. I've had them ever since they were small in a community tank.
I put a flouting butter tub lid in...and noticed on (at least) was swimming upside down under it.
I see/saw no small bubbles in it, only one large bubble covering about a third of the underside.
They are in a 55 gal. of their own now, same large bubble has been made.

I followed what a poster here said to do and slowed Way Down on feeding them, did a water change, unplugged the heater and lowered the temp by 8 and even 14 degrees lower than the normal 76 degrees I'd had them in.
Although 3 of them are very active, and looking for food (that rarely is there), one seems inactive resting on the bottom, not even coming up for air for very long periods.

If that one, which always seemed to hide before I moved them is female, none of the others pay any attention to it...let alone nudging her under side, trying to get eggs from it.

what's happening, and what else can I do, Please?
I very much want to sell the offspring to my local fish stores, who said they'd definitely buy them~!

This should go in the Callichthydiae forum, as hoplos are related to cories.

What species do you have? Beware of males, mine massacred each other.

All 4 get along famously...I've raised them all from juveniles in a large (125g)community tank.
Never a hint of a "squabble", even together on a 55 or 20 gal. tank.
They are all about the same, girth wise, so I have/had no idea...they may all be female.
That must be, due to their lack of aggression or "hook like" pectorals...but they go upside down under my floating butter tub lid, which has a large bubble in it.

How can that be, friend?
