I need help Identifying this type of rock.
it is grey in colour with thin white lines running through it. its surface is ridged with fissures (almost like a miniature cliff) and I am not able to remove or rub particles off. I have cut it transversely and polished the exposed face: the colour is very dark; charcoal grey I believe with white lines running in no particular or organised order.
it is very hard, I didn't calculate the weight applied but only small/medium chips will occur when hit hard with a ballpeen hammer. it seems to be neutral in pH: I have applied vinegar with a pH of 2.5 to the rock and did not notice any reaction, therefore it does not contain carbonate material. it does not increase the pH of water.
