Hi ,
Been doing a bit of digging to see if Thier are breeding populations of Amerius melas in the UK. According to DEFRA there is a breeding population at a pond in Warwickshire. But unfortunately the pool is on private land. Would love to confirm if this is the case? Does anybody know if this is true or anywhere else they have encountered this fish or indeed any other species of catfish apart from the well known Wel,s cat?
Thanks
Fishyphil

Not aware of any, have you tried asking the larger UK wholesalers? They may have (historically) been supplied from breeders.

Hilarious how going across the Atlantic makes these a "cool" fish.

Here most people disregard them.

I have kept all three species native to Wisconsin long term...wish I had pictures. Grew one out to over 14" probably. Massive fish, get a lot of girth at that size.
