Pride in Watching Fish / Plants Grow

Hi All,
I mostly purchase younger & smaller fish due to easier to source and cheaper. Was looking at my old 2ft that's been redone many times and a few of its current contents its nothing flash and pretty plain atm due to requirements. But I still felt proud as I saw my male ancistrus with all his newish bristles come round the corner of the bog wood.
Thinking back to the tiny 3cm guy I bought over 18 months ago in the shop. Similar feeling comes up when I think of the few I have that I've raised from eggs or fry.
Hopefully a few people think like this? Same applies to plants you look at the big green machine in the tank now and think was that really the 5 leaf twig all that time ago?
