Question about a heater

Hey guys! I'm planning on setting up a new aquarium soon. I already have the tank, it's a 26 gallon hex, and a lid for it.
I know I need to invest in a more powerful filter for it. However, I have an Elite heater that's meant for a 20 gallon, and was wondering if I might be able to get away with using it for the 26 instead of buying a new one. Has anyone tried this and know if it might happen to be powerful enough to heat the tank? It's going to be for my Corys. Their current aquarium is sitting at about 80F.

What's the wattage?

Yes, wattage is important. A 100-watt heater will have no problem with the small difference in tank size. I've tried that before with no unfortunate results.

It's a 100 Watt.

@magdalo - Worked out alright? I was hoping it might work because it isn't a huge jump in gallons. Thanks for the reply!

100 watt is plenty for anything up to 55 gallons normally, unless your house is extremely cold.
