This pleco was bought from City Pets, in Houston, Texas. It was pretty beat up and so it was given to me at a discount($10). It has started to heal very nicely and is enjoying my established tank where i have mixed African Cichlids. Please assist in helping me identify it. Not too noticeable in the photo, but this pleco has small distinct spots on it as well(almost like a green phantom) on the front part of its body. Any help greatly appreciated. It is a beautiful pleco and very active in my aquarium.

Thank You

There are a number of threads here on 'pinspot' ancistrus. And even more species. Please check out the forums. Also some more clear photos of dorsal and ventral would help.

If there are any particular threads that you enjoy and would guide me in the right direction please feel free to put the link up here. Possibilities i think so far:

Ancistrus sp. (L359)

Ancistrus leucostictus

Ancistrus sp(2)

Looks like a dark coloured to me. Their normal pattern is showing through behind the dark.

There are many colour morphs of these being bred.
