Synos for a 55 gallon tank

Hi all,

I am finally getting ready to set up my 55 gallon tank!

My question is this, I have a 5 inch Eupterus, a 3.5 inch Hybrid #1, and a 2.5 Decoras.

Once the tank is properly seasoned, should I add all three at once? There is a large upright "driftwood" cave, a one foot long log, and several caves/driftwood nooks for them to hide in.

None of the fish appear aggressive. I'm thinking three synos (given adult sizes) is about the maximum that size tank can hold.

Any advice would be appreciated. There are also two Raphael cats, a loach, and an albino bristlenose going in the tank (with 4 angelfish).

Very adequate outside filter, undergravel filter with 2 powerheads, and I am saving up for a canister filter. Water neutral ph but very alkaline. That doesn't seem to be a problem as my fish do very well (knock on wood).

Thanks.

You are best to put all synodontis in at once...if you were to add another I would always suggest to change up the layout so it is new to all the fish, not just the newest one.

All the other catfish and the loach(depending on what kind) could all be considered competition for caves, food etc.

I'm glad you are adding a canister filter, I don't think you'll regret it. And if you want your eupterus and decora to grow to full size, I would suggest you move them to 100gals. in a year or two.
