Odd swimming in channel cat

I recently rescued a large channel cat, 10" or so, from someone who could no longer handle the fish. All night this fish swam up and down one side of my aquarium. My thinking was that this is the side that my HOB is on and he just liked the current, as the rosie reds, fathead minnows, sometimes do this all day long. Any ideas what they are doing?

And as a bonus question, does this count as a large cat, whereby I will only need to feed him a good amount every once a week?

He may be cramped, and acting a bit restless. Nothing to really worry about, but tank size may become a problem.

Yes, I wouldn't feed it more than twice a week. Once a week feedings are plenty.

Swimming up and down one side of a tank is a common symptom of many catfishes trying to get used to new surroundings. Nothing to worry about, as far as I can see.

Thanks for the help. I do know that the tank will be too small for him very soon. This is just as a QT before I put him into my pond.
