Feeding Hara jerdoni aka Anchor catfish

I have some of these catfish and I've yet to see them eat. They don't come out during feeding time. I have them with some corydoras and plecos. I've been feeding shrimp pellets and algae wafers. They look kinda malnourished. I'd hate to feed frozen food I'm allergic to touching it. I've had them about a week so far. Any idea on what these guys like to eat?

They don't take very kindly to dry food. You're best off feeding them live/frozen food. I have an allergy to the arthropod protein in bloodworms, yet I frequently feed my fish frozen bloodworms. The trick is to thaw out the cubes in a small plastic container of water, and then to use a plastic dropper to dispense the thawed food. There is very minimal contact and you can literally place the food right in front of the fish.

Hi all,
First the disclaimer that I've never kept
, or any other
species, but I'd definitely have a Grindal worm culture if I kept them. Grindal worms are very suitable for small catfish, and very easy to culture.
I've found that
are keen on Micro Worms, so
Hara maybe as well. Along the same lines Pygmy Cories are fond of browsing leaf litter (presumably snagging Rotifers etc from the leaf surfaces) and I would definitely have both moss and leaf litter in a tank for
Hara.
One great advantage of live food is that it wriggles and that elicits the feeding response in fish, which may then be more likely to try non-living items. I've had success feeding Arctic Copepods or de-capsulated Brine shrimps with micro-worms to "picky" fry, with the micro-worm/crustacean "slurry" pipetted into the moss.
cheers Darrel

I kept these guys, and they do indeed love microworms. A microworm culture is very easy to keep.

Hara Jerdoni eats "smelly" food only. I 'll post a video of it eating frozen blood worms. They ate frozen blood worms and frozen shrimp when I had them in my nano tank.
Good luck with your fish..

Wow. They're really that small? The Cherry shrimp are the same size!

Mine love bloodworms.
But they usually eat New Life Spectrum minifish granules or flake food.
I've had mine for a year - anyone have an idea on how long they live?

Yes, they are tiny. They grow little bigger than that, but that's only the females. They are plumpier than the males.
Cheers,

Although not exactly the same, I got a bunch of
Erethistes pussilus in 2009 and was left with a small group in 2012, YMMV.
