Hey everyone. Just joined because I am getting into Bristlenose breeding. At my local LFS, my friend and I maintain the aquariums and do all the fish ordering (fun!) so I get all of my supplies and livestock for free. So with access to all of this, I tried my hand at betta breeding, until my prized little female jumped ship. Did manage one spawn out of her at least. Then I bred endlers for a bit and some fancier guppies. Was never really into plecos until I started doing some research to see what I wanted to breed next. I noticed at my LFS how fast plecos sell. OMG, fast! So that peaked my interest. Well during my research, I saw how amazingly pretty some plecos are! And since I am a big fan of anything with long fins, I decided to try the longfin bristlenose. I managed to get some longfin albinos and they are about 2 inches long right now. Still a ways to go before breeding. Now I am on the hunt for an adult pair of Super Reds (got any? lol) so I dont have to wait so long for them to start breeding, like my albinos. My plan in the future is to work my way into making longfin reds, my ultimate goal. :d And thru all of this, I will be able to sell my fry back to my LFS and make some money. Bonus!
So that's my road to how I got to PlanetCatfish. You wont see me post much, as I tend to just stay behind the scenes reading and learning. But I'll probably be lurking somewhere :-H
Thanks all!

Hi Catxel,
Welcome to PlanetCatfish, and good luck with your bristlenoses. If you are seriously looking for a particular variety of catfish, let people know by posting in the "Wanted" forum.
Cheers, Eric

Thank you...Ive asked one person, but its kind of hard to know who to trust when exchanging money for items online. A little nervous, ya know. I do auctions and things, but ive never bought anything from someone thru a forum. But with it so hard to find adult pairs, im having to find some courage to go after what I really want. Other then checking a person's forum activity, how does one know who to trust to buy from? Any suggestions?

You ask a really good question. And you answered it right, too: Forum activity. It may take you a while, but by looking at the # posts AND reading their posts, you'll get a feel for whom you will trust to take your money and give you what you think you're buying. I've seen a few trades sought and made through these forums in the ~6 months I've been here, and I presume they went well because I expect there would have been negative posts if they hadn't.
