CSG 2015 Photo Thread

I thought that since a lot of people won't be able to attend the convention, we could (somewhat) experience it vicariously through the photos of those who will. So feel free to post your photos of either the catfish you see or the convention itself.

I spent most of yesterday at Pier Aquatics; I don't think I've ever seen it that full before (with even one more sneaky shipment yet to come in). Neil and the rest of the staff have really put a lot of effort in to make the shop so good.

Matt, thanks for starting this thread. I really enjoyed reading about and seeing photos/videos from the CatCon meeting last Fall (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=41111). I will look forward to an equally interesting review from the CSG meeting. Take lots of pictures, folks, both of the fish and yourselves! The rest of us will just have to enjoy the CSG from afar (and in some cases from very afar, LOL) :-H

Cheers, Eric

Same here, Eric. I won't be there, but took a good amount of photos from Pier though.

Really good photos. Are they taken at the fish store? If so, wow! I can't get photos this good at home.

Thanks, and yup, taken at the shop. I'm getting better at using the onboard flash, I 'discovered' that you can alter the flash intensity which helps to get the right exposure depending on how deep in the tank they are.

I'm curious - What kind of camera and lens are you using? (since you mention the onboard flash, I'm assuming it integral to the camera body and not a separate purchase)

Almost done, honest.

Nothing special, a Canon 60D (onboard flash) with either the 'kit' 18-55mm STM or 'nifty' 50mm f1.8 with extension tubes. Most of these photos are with the 50mm and extension tubes (they don't fit the 18-55mm).

These are all good pics and some are excellent. It would be good to add some of them to the site, but I will check with Neil tomorrow.

Great! I'm very impressed with the quality of your photos and videos in the shop - I always struggle with reflections.
Call me strange, but I like to go and see the two big L24s every time I visit Pier. My little (ish) L24 is definitely my favourite fish - such a character, really active for a pleco, and beautiful colours.
Looking forward to meeting some of you on Saturday.
Cheers,
Paul

There is not a single fish store in the U.S. that could hold a candle to Pier. In fact, I have hit every good store between New York and DC on a road trip and not seen the quality of fish after 4 hours of driving that I see after 15 minutes at Neil's place.

I agree, you may think you have seen them all but there will be one or likely more than one species you have not ever seen before somewhere in Neil's store....it is a treat!

My first convention and I'm really enjoying it. The lectures are fascinating, and it's great to meet some of the famous names in catfish and discuss our common interest.
Plus I've managed to buy some Cory condiscipulus to join my herd of Cory oiapoquensis.
I'd recommend the convention to anyone considering it next time!
