"catfish fin spines sting and can lock in place when a fish feels threatened." I'm wondering what this woman could have done to it obviously got too close, for its liking, not as if catfish hunt us out were we swim, deliberately spining us, most are bottom dwellers, right, it could be like the beaches where great white sharks frequently visit, but instead with warning signs up for dangerous catfish! =)). The video sure looks like somebody totally ruined that second catfishes day, so maybe it was a revenge attack :))

When I've caught small Ariidae like this in the Caribbean, they are in the surf. I'd imagine she's just rolled onto it or it's got between her and a floating lie-lo or suchlike.

Thanks for the further information, there are those, that aren't in same category as the bottom dwelling groups.

One of the EMTs, Marcelo Araujo Tamada, posted photos of the catfish spines stuck in the woman's belly on Facebook.
LOL

Woman: "get that goddamn thing out of me!!!"

Paramedic: "Woah there, steady on lady, we gotta do important paramedicy stuff first [gets phone out ...]"

=)) In the USA, that would undoubtedly be a HIPAA (privacy of health records) violation. Hahaha
