Hi All,
So my cory recently got a case of tail rot and I moved him ASAP into my quarantine tank. I've never had a case of tail rot before so I went out and purchased melafix and pimafix and I've been treating him for 6 days now and he got his color back in his body he is no longer pale but his tail is still pretty much eaten away at and I've noticed he has an open wound by his tail. Any ideas or suggestions of anything better I could be doing? I also have some aquarium salt here as well, should I give that a shot? Please help if you have any ideas, Thanks!

That looks nasty, is that a wound by its head too?

I would carry on treatment with Melafix, but really focus on clean water by doing lots of water changes and keep the water well aerated too, by adding an air stone or increasing the agitation of the waters surface. Good luck, I hope it continues to improve for you.

I'd advise the same. That looks really nasty, but sometimes throwing a lot of different drugs at fish only stresses them further. Clean water, aeration... You didn't mention your tank conditions. I'd keep temp up around 79-80F for a while to accelerate healing too (but only if you have really good aeration).

The other question is how did this happen? You haven't told us about the tank conditions that might have caused this in the first place. If you don't address that, the disease could reoccur.
