Need Advice - New Tank

ok, im about to buy a 55 Gallon Fish tank and need some advice.

I am getting the tank, a filter, a heater, and gravel

First question, what is the safest method for moving my two fish to the new tank from their old one? I will not be moving them until the tank is setup and cycled, cycling will be aided by some feeder fish, they will start the cycle and provide a snack when the bumblebee cat gets put in the tank ;) I have 2 fish, a bumblebee jelly catfish and a common pleco, both are about 3 inches long. I will have hiding places for both and may eventually plant the tank. I will have some rocks in there as well :) I will be using black gravel for my substrate, how many punds of this would be good for a 55 gallon tank?

Anyone have advice from their experience with new tanks?

Thanks

Enough to cover the bottom of the tank to 1" or so, I'd say.

Depends on how big the gravel is, but about 40-50 pounds I would say.

ok, what about my other question? hehe, I have a Batrochoglanis raninus and a common Pleco, how should I move them from the old tank to the new one?

ive thought about it today, and what im planning to do is establish the 55 gallon tank (of course).

I will match the temperature of the 55 gallon to that of the 10 gallon, once those temperatures are correct im going to remove the 2 cats and place them in the 55 galon, this will be done with a large net, probably 6" if I can fit it in the top of my custom 10 gallon tank :p

Is there anything else that I can or should do to prepare these guys for the move? I can think of anything else to do.
