Not sure of the ID.
I was told they are fm New Guinea. Came in with a batch of Scleropages jardinii. 🙂
Fish is abt 8inch TL.

I've seen that imported before with arowana. I think @Silurus is best at IDing these.

Cheers,

Same cat. They become dark once settled and swim together all the time.

When I saw your thread, I thought of my buddy Vincent's Papua cats. He got them too not too long ago and alleged they are some of the rarest-kept in the hobby. So you think they are the same? Vince appears to know the ID of his cats:

post #243 https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/foru ... st-7660512

I can't find a post where he says what he thinks the ID is but you can ask him directly.

Yes. Definitely same cat.

BTW, he ID the cat as Cinetodus carinatus --> https://www.facebook.com/groups/1665350 ... 321986183/

But didn't elaborate how he concluded that ID.

This is not Cinetodus. This is Sciades (or Neoarius, depending on who you choose to follow) leptaspis.
