WC L280 (Micracanthicus Vandragti - from Rio Orinoco) import being acclimated. They are absolutely stunning fish and came in real healthy. Surpassed all my expectations.

A big shout out to Freshwater Exotics USA for the outstanding quality, packing and overall service on my very first order.

I just put mine away as well. Overall health is good. They need to put on some weight but I am very happy!

@jeremybasch

A Pleco keeper in Japan who breeds L280s, keep them at 29C and TDS of 100 ppm

=P~ Mine are scheduled to arrive Tuesday. I just cut a dozen or more small bamboo caves and additional pipes in anticipation of their arrival. Also cut some larger caves for my other pleco tanks - bamboo caves last only a year or so in my tanks before the back rots out or gets eaten through. :-D

I'm receiving 12, splitting them in half with another guy in town. Between us, and you guys, somebody should be able to establish a US/Canada breeding source.

Good luck all!
Eric

At my local garden center, I can buy 5-6 foot bamboo poles, either 1" outer diameter or 1.5" outer diameter, for between $3.99 and $8.99USD, depending on length and diameter. Each pole can be cut into about 6 - 7 caves and at least that many pipes. Very cheap.

Only downside to bamboo is the smell during the first weeks in the water. That's why I water them outside of the house for some weeks. Otherwise it's really cheap and the plecos do like them.

Best of luck to all of you, with these cute little "suckers" :))

Thanks, Jobro.

Yes there is an odor, but compared to Repashy foods, it's insignificant. :)) Also, I've only ever smelled it while boiling the baboo. I've never noticed it once the bamboo goes in the tanks.

Cheers, Eric
