I would appreciate any help anyone can offer identifying this Cory. They have been presented as C. huanta, but I can find nothing by that name. Thanks. - Guppyman

Hello,

Looks like C. fowleri. However, I have also seen a similar fish listed as C. semiaquilis "Black". Personally, I think both are color forms of fowleri.

Guppyman,

I am almost certain the species is C. semiaquelus comming from Peru they are quite variable in colour pattern and get to be quiote large fish, reaching about 85 mm SL.

I don't consider them to be a colour a form of C. fowleri/C. coriatae

Thanks. The resemble C. fowleri, also. Do you agree? - Guppyman

They are similar in shape, both being long snouted species. Morphologically there are several differences, some of which are not visible.

Burgess, 1997 in his paper on C. coriatae put doubt on the validity of C. fowleri, I also have the same doubt in regard to C. coriatae and believe that these could prove to be one and the same species.
