Hi,

What is a size where L007's can be sexed. I have 3 at 7cms, 5.5cms and 5cm. They were sold to me as 1 male and 2 females. I know they have a lot of growing to do, but would be good to know their sex.

I have attached a photo, i have heard of snub nose before. Is it a bad thing and does this one have it. Just because of it's short nose i thought it possibly does. But maybe it's just young and hasn't developed it's head yet.

Definitely looks snub to me. I don't have a clue how bad it may be but it certainly isn't a good thing.
I've had small leporacanthicus in the past and none had heads like that.

No offense but if you're trying to sex them to breed, I would not breed that fish.

Snub nose isn’t a genetic issue, and so youngsters won’t have the snub nose if raised well.

I’ve bred snub nosed to produce normal offspring.

Thanks for the reply mate, it does look a little worse from the angle of pic. But for sure not 100% normal. After seeing jools comment below i will try to breed them once big enough. But if for some reason the fry were like it then this one and the fry would just go into a display tank. I wouldn't sell them.

Thanks for that info, it makes me feel better. They are a while from being able to breed so i will see how it developes until then. They came from a private seller that got them from the same breeder. And this is the only one of the 3 that is like it. So that's for sure a good sign.
