Does anyone know approximately when the long fin super red bushynose became available in the US

Since this is a man made fish, you would have to find the first breeder who managed to get the end result you are asking about. Since this sort of project is rarely limited to a single breeder, I doubt there is a firm answer to your question. I can pretty much tell you it was likely in the last 15-20 years. You can sort of trace the history of tank raised BN strains.

I first got lf bn in about 2002. They came from a breeder in Chicago and I believe his breeding stock originated in Europe. Then came the albinos, marbled super reds etc. There is actually no solid record for which wild strains of Ancistrus started this all. The most often mentioned species, I believe, are A. temminckii or cirrhosus.
