Is this a real Julii or not?

Hi,

I got my “Julii” a few months back and I think they are, but I would like a second opinion or a third, etc., etc. Just to be sure, since it could be a false one and I have to admit that to me, sometimes it is and sometimes it isn’t.

Thanks!

Those are , the "three lined cory". Very similar to julii, but not the same. You can tell by the short squiggles of black on the head. This is most often indicative of C. trilineatus. If you had real , the head would be covered with small circular dots.

Occasionally, you get a julii with squigles on the head or a trilineatus with dots, but you must know for a fact that the fish were collected where real julii come from to confirm the identity. If you simply bought them from someone and you don't know that they came from the natural location of julii, then they are not likely to be julii.

Cheers, Eric
