I just found out this morning when feeding my tank I have eggs that I think belong to my corys (aeneus). i found some that looked like they were broken but I found some other areas that seem to be intact (all are on the glass in clusters).

What is the next step to do? I don't want them to be eaten up I do have a fish breeder with an airstone ready for when they need to be in that little tank.

What do I need to do to raise them?

I thought I saw a little worm (proly planaria) around one of the eggs too so I hope they are not planning on eating them

I did a search but was not sure when I should take the eggs into the breeder plastic area.

While cleaning one of my tanks this morning I found a cluster of eggs on a little ceramic sign decoration in the tank. This is a 30g tank with an adult Angel, a med. size Parrot Fish and a Dojo Weather Loach. The eggs could have only come from the 2 Corys that are also kept in this tank. I have no idea what to do with the eggs. I think there were some more about a couple of months ago, but I didn't do anything about those and they disappeared, but no visible fry. I don't want the same to happen to these. Any suggestion?

what I did was buy a 10 gallon tank with florescent lighting, airpump, sponge filter, heater, and java moss.



I placed the submersible heater on the bottom of the tank. I then filled the 10 gallon with 5 gallons from my 20 and placed gravel in there as well. I waited 20 min or so for the heater to get used to the tank then turned the heater on. Next time I do this, I will not add the gravel. I think it was better to just run an air stone instead of a sponge filter in the beginning as well.


I then took the 12 eggs or so I had and placed them into the 10 gallon. I added 2 drops of Methylene Blue per gallon and just maintained the same temp as my 20 gallon.

This produced about maybe 8 babies or so the next day. Water changes were done after hatching. Once hatched, i brought the water down to about slightly near the level of the heater (leave some room so you can do water changes and not expose the heater). I then added the java moss at this point.

I waited a couple days more and then started feeding them liquidfry (for egg layers).after daily water changes and removing debris, I finally ended up with only 1 weak one

I dunno if it's alive this morning, but next time these eggs come, I'll be better prepared I think. no gravel at all. I think some may have died in the gravel but I don't know.

That's all I can offer at what I did. I probably should use a bredder net next time and once they hatch, bring the water level down.

thanks for your help. I hope I can do this with what I have. We don't have a pet shop here in small town Okla. and Wal Mart has a very limited supply of fish supplies. The closest LFS is 90 miles away

what my friend told me this morning was just to get

something like this from petco or petsmart and keep in the same tank that you have.



that's about $5-$8 I think

I have one of those!!! YAY!
Do I need to put it anyplace special in the tank (ie. by the heater, water filter, etc)?
Should I just lay the sign down in the basket or try to remove the eggs?

I've heard it's best to put in another tank but if you only have one tank, i think place it where there will be good water flow. Maybe this will stoop bacteria and fungus from growing on the eggs.

I don't know if it's a good idea to add methylene blue into your tank but maybe just the breeder net will help.

I would remove the eggs with a plastic card (I used my expired credit card) and place them in the breeder net. slide the card at an angle and try to remove the eggs (they will be very sticky). Be careful not to lose the eggs (I dropped some but luckily had a net to catch it.

I would think the net is fine enough so that the babies when they hatch (or the eggs) won't fall through the net.
