Help identifying exact species of Peckoltia

Need help identifying this Peckoltia Catfish. When I bought it from the pet store they stated it was some sort of Chinese Pleco (I forget the exact name they called it) however, this is not true. It is in the family of the Peckoltia I believe, and a marine biologist group also believes that. They can not identify it by photos to the exact species though. So, I was hoping somebody here could. PLEASE NOTE the little spike looking objects on his tail fin. Thank you!

Hi Fultzy15,

I suspect you have , but I could be wrong. I'm fascinated by how clearly the body spots overlap with the body stripes on your specimen. Really neat.

The spikes on the tail tell me this fish is male.

Cheers, Eric

I'll second what Eric said.

Thank you gentleman! I believe you’re both correct after looking at the photo’s of the 1205 specimen! When I first bought him, I had him in a 55 gallon Gourami tank. He always hid, even at night when most catfish would be active. I have since moved him to a heavily live planted, heavily rocked with large rocks I found and boiled Fancy Gold Fish tank and he is always seen out now....even during the day. I suspect the recommended tank temperature for him would be around 60-80 degrees like most others. I know Gold Fish are cold water fish but even without the heater the tank is always at 70 degrees F. Im happy to know his exact specimen now, though!
