Gold Nugget curled up in the corner!!

Wife just called from the house and said that our GoldNugget is curled up in the corner of the tank.
We have had him for 3 or 4 months now and he always seemed to be doing fine. I have made a few changes in the past few days but i would not think they would have any negative effects on the the fish. Sunday I added some aquatic soil to the tank to help with some plants. The bag says safe for all fish and I did some serious rinsing before adding it to my tank. Yesterday I added a piece of drift wood to the tank that I purchased from a fish shop. The driftwood was boiled on and off for two days and had been soaking in some tank water for 3 days. All of the other fish are doing fine. I can not test the water at this time since I am at work. I may try to talk my wife through the testing process over the phone.
Any suggestions on how to save the Goldnuggett, or what could be the problem??
