Hey! Here I come with another interesting bycatch. The following pictures are from my dealer, so sorry for bad quality! I'll be picking them up next week so I'd like some opinions Thanks in advance, any guidance is welcome! They're about 3.5" right now.







I have boiled it down to the following by size:




Very similar but larger:


I'm not secure on any of these since the face markings don't match at all.

Collection location would help rule them down.
I am stumped they do have unique face markings. Also the nose on them rounds off instead of a square-like end. Right now I am thinking Loricaria tucumanensis but not sure.

Yeah, this is a hard one. I asked the seller and he said he doesn't have the collection location, but 90% of the times the cats come from Brazil, mainly from the north and northeastern area and sometimes from states such as Parana and Mato Grosso. (I'm currently living within the north/eastern states so it's easier to find catfish from nearby states).

I'm hoping that when they arrive (next Wednesday) they'll settle in my tank without issues so I can get better pictures. Just by face markings, you can exclude most loricaria and rinoloricaria in the site, but the body markings are very common.

They have bristly mouths like Loricaria tucumanensis, but the guys in the picture (mainly females) have very flat bodies, with white eyes pointing upwards.

I'm so curious now!
Tomorrow I'll have time to dig in deeper so I'll post here if I find some species that Fi better.

More general suspects of tonight:

Looking at the shape of the mouth, this is a . As to the species, could do with a few sharper pics, or the catch location. If it's a bycatch - what with? More info would help get to a closer ID for you if you can.
