3 different corys (or only 2)? Help with ID's
Posted: 14 Dec 2021, 15:25
My first post on this site.
I need help from more experienced Cory connoisseurs.
These 3 Corys where purchased at different times from different vendors, but now are together in one of my tanks. Source localities are unknown, not even a country.
1) The first one I believe may be C. leopardus (please help me confirming or dispelling this).
Note - Relatively long head; No black on adipose fin; Small black blotch on dorsal; Uncolored 1st ray of dorsal; Distinctive forehead pattern (diamond).
2) The second may also be C. leopardus, but I see differences that may go beyond individual variation (opinions, please).
Note - Shorter head; Black on adipose fin; Larger black blotch on dorsal, with straight-line lower edge and different shape; Somewhat different forehead pattern.
3) The third one is certainly different, and I have been unable to arrive at an educated guess.
Note- No "lined pattern" on sides; Short head; Large black blotch on dorsal; Black 1st ray of dorsal, and lower edge of dorsal; Black on adipose; Different forehead pattern; Small, but about the size size as 2) above.
I would be grateful reasons for your ID are given.
The last photo shows both 1) and 2) together, which may help in assessing their similarities/differences.
Many thanks in advance!
