I wanted to ID these 2 plecos wild caught 3" tl.
Thanks so much for any input.
I think they are l397.

Is it just the camera angle, or does one have a short snout? (maybe male/female differences, if the shortness is not severe).

Based on the twisty lines on the forehead of one fish and not the other, I have to wonder if they are too different species. Or is that also a camera angle issue? Do they both have slightly disorganized lines at the top of the head?

I'll take them out of the tank this weekend for better pics.

Here is some shots of the male out of the tank.

Do you know anything about their export source or catch location? They seem to be L397, but a couple of other L numbers are similar.

I have no more information on them at this time.
I know they are wild imported.
Anyone else have opinions on if there L397

Also this baby looks to me like L306.

Same species as the ones you posted here, I think, and my answer remains the same
