I was thinking of getting some synodontis multipunctatus and trying to breed them. I have been reading the articles on the web about this but none seem to mention a male to female ratio.

Could I get 1 male and 1 female and likely eventually get a breeding? Or should I get 1 male and 2 females, ect.? What is most recommended?

keeping more males seems to work with Syno's.
I've always kept a little less males than females in my showtanks.
but for breeding a bit more rivalry works best; Syno males are lazy!
they seem to get in action only when they fear someone else will do it, if they won't; hence more males.
A single pair of multipuncs however, will do fine breeding when supplied with a suitable host.
They can be bred without, but it's MUCH easier with.
