Help identifying please!

Post by Davja »

I’ve owned this guy for 29 years and never really known exactly what he is. I’d always thought it was a synodontis network but see images here of hemisynodontis schall that also looks very like him. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure about S.schall - looks too high bodied - perhaps , is a good shout?

The yellowish dorsal and pectoral fin spines makes me think that this is Synodontis obesus.

ImageThanks very much, yes obesus certainly seems very likely. Here’s a few that I just took of him.

Breathtaking. Impossible to think this fish could be 29 yo. It's an astounding achievement in my book!
